Roboy

I was looking for a gadget to write about, and while personally thinking that most of them are overpriced excuses for an average human to become a slob, there are some things that I really like to learn more about. One such thing is definitely robotics, and I stumbled upon Roboy. It’s of course a robot, but pretty much unlike I’ve seen thus far. It has a somewhat creepy face and it has the figure of a child (even creepier). Funny thing is, scientists try to emulate our tissues, mostly bones and muscles, but if anyone ever managed to put a skin over one of these, I’m quite sure it’d look pretty human. It’s absolutely awe inspiring to see how far the technology has led us. Despite the conspiracy theories about AI and robotics, human curiosity will forever push us towards new scientific aspects. Thinking how it all started some 20 or 30 years ago, I would not be surprised if in 20 years humans could easily opt for having cybernetic body parts. This would be an absolutely thrilling experience. Some things like that exist today, but I’m thinking really advanced, indistinguishable parts or organs. With the advances in nanotech and medical science, who knows where humanity will stand in fifty years. We can’t even imagine what will be normal in twenty years, let alone more than that. Perhaps interstellar space travel won’t be science fiction only after all.
